From 30 June to 4 July 2025, the Hellenic Supreme Joint War College (HSJWC) and the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) organized the Doctoral School Summer University 2025 on the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The course was held in Thessaloniki (multi-purpose hall of the War Museum), in a residential format.
The European Doctoral School on the CSDP is an initiative launched in 2017 by volunteer institutions and the ESDC to develop a range of training and provide support for doctoral research on the CSDP in the EU.
Its objective is to develop a critical mass of scientific and academic expertise that brings together supervisors and mentors and promotes the exchange of knowledge, skills and competences on European security and defence with a view to providing support for PhD level research reflecting on the CSDP.
30 PhD Candidates and Researchers from Bulgaria (1), Chile (1), Denmark (1), Greece (6), Hungary (3), Italy (2), Netherlands (1), Portugal (1) Romania (13) and Spain (1) participated in the school.
Participants engaged in lectures, seminars, and workshops led by experts and practitioners, covering both policy and operational dimensions, as well as research methodology, scientific writing, and publication.
