Two-Day Conference on the “Economy of War”

On January 22 and 23, 2026, and within the frames of the “ARISTOTELIS” Program between the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) and the University of Thessaloniki, the Hellenic Supreme Joint War College and the Faculty of Law of the University co-organized a two-day conference on the topic of “Economy of War”.

The event was held within the framework of the course “International Economy – Defence Industry” and took place in the HSJWC Amphitheater with the participation of the officers of 23rd Educational Series, students of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and distinguished personalities of the city.

Academic representatives, speakers of the defence industry and international military programs analyzed fiscal issues created in the states involved and the complex problems arising from the imposition of sanctions, both for the countries that suffer them and for the countries that impose them.

International collaborations aimed at protecting the security of a country were also highlighted, as were the means of protecting energy and critical infrastructures that are popular targets of belligerents and directly affect their economy, as well as the development of the dual use defence industry in peacetime.

The Conference was honored by the Deputy Minister of Development, Responsible for Research and Innovation, Mr. Stavros Kalafatis.
