Ceremony for the commencement of studies of the 23rd Class (2026) HSJWC

On Thursday, 28 August 2025, the Ceremony for the commencement of studies of the 23rd Class (2026) was held at the Amphitheater of the Hellenic Supreme Joint War College (HSJWC) in Thessaloniki. The studies are going to last until 26 June 26.

Along with the studies of HSJWC, the students holding the rank of Major – Lieutenant Colonel and their equivalents from other branches have the opportunity to attend the Master’s Program of HSJWC with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and obtain a diploma in “Strategic Studies”.

The HSJWC aims to develop joint staff officers and leaders at the operational and strategic levels of command and warfare.

In 23rd Class, there are 249 Officers enrolled, specifically 106 from the Army, 45 from the Navy, 54 from the Air Force, 2 from Common Corps, 4 from the Hellenic Police, 4 from the Fire Service, 24 Greek-Cypriots, 2 from Armenia, 1 from North Macedonia, 2 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1 from Zambia, and 4 from Saudi Arabia.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Professor Panagiotis Glavinis, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Aristotle University and Director of the Master’s Program; Professor Iordanis Kotzaivazoglou, liaison of the School with the International Hellenic University; and university and officers professors teaching at the HSJWC. Brief speeches for the commencement of studies were delivered by the Chief of the 23rd Class, Lieutenant Colonel Sokratis Alexopoulos, Professor Panagiotis Glavinis, and the Commandant of the College.
